HISTORY OF THE PROGRAMME/SUB-DISCIPLINE/DISCIPLINE

The B.Sc Accountancy degree programme was established during the 1999/2000 session under the headship of Sir Cletus Anyigbo MBA (Uxbridge) CMA, FCA, M.Int.Marketing (UK) who joined the department from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.
The initial (pioneering) intake of students was 122 made up of qualified applicants who came in through JAMB and the Universityís pre-degree programme. Programme content has been regularly updated in line with NUC minimum standard and all courses have been examined and moderated regularly. The departmentís external examiner is Prof. Emma Okoye of the Department of Accountancy Nnamdi Azikiwe Univeristy Awka. He is a Professor of Accountancy in that University. All degree examination question papers and answer scripts were reviewed by him.
There was a change of baton of the leadership of the department during the 2002/2003 academic year when Dr. Ozor B.M, FCA, ACTI(now professor) took over the mantle of leadership. During the same year, the 1999/2000 intake took their degree examinations. In 2006, Dr. P. Enyi took over the headship of the department from Prof Ozor.On return from federal appointment, Prof Ozor was reappointed to took over from Dr Enyi.
In 2008/2009,Prof Ozor handed over to Sir Dave Osuagwu a senior lecturer who hold the mantle of leadership to 2009/2010 academic year. Sir Osuagwu later handed over to Dr Chukwu U.C in 2009/2010 academic year and in 2013,Dr Chukwu U.C handed over the mantle of leadership to the current Head of the Department Dr Felix Awa.
